For many clients it is initially very difficult reaching out to gain help and support.
About me and my practice
I work initially from a Client Centred approach to help establish a strong client/therapist relationship. I use other counselling techniques to help move clients forward to help them achieve their desired goals in their own pace. learning positive coping strategies helps build their confidence and self esteem. I offer clients training in guided visualisation to help fascinate relaxation and reduce Anxiety and promote sleep. Using an effective approach ie. MBCBT (Mindful based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) embrace's Compassion Therapy which is the gentle path for individual empowerment. I am passionate about my work and through my years of experience working with clients I have worked with many survivors of abuse and violence, Trauma and PTSD. Depression, suicide, self harm, Anxiety, relationship problems, Divorce, Bereavement, These are only some of the issues the list is endless so developing my own particular style to help relieve the pain and suffering of so many has bee of paramount importance to their wellbeing and recovery.
Experience
I have over 25 years experience as a counsellor 20 of those years I worked in the field of addiction. My work involved Counselling individuals who suffer from alcohol, drugs or gambling addiction. Addiction counselling involves helping the individual to cut down on their substance use and only after they have gained control can counselling begin to address their personal issues. The issues I have dealt with are numerous. Mental Health and addiction goes hand in hand. Addiction for many individuals provides a negative coping strategy for the many issues clients have to cope with but substance use complicates things further by making more issues develop. Relapse prevention is a very important part of addiction work.
